A huge transformation took place to create this bright open plan space. The original kitchen was dark and cramped due to a poor design, exaggerated by an over sized island unit. During the early planning phase it was decided that two walls should be removed and a doorway blocked off. These changes resulted in a huge free flowing room, which was to house a large kitchen and dining space. The kitchen required a large bank of tall units to accommodate single, combination and steam ovens. Tall pull-out larder units either side and pan drawers below provide easily accessible storage. Opposite, a large induction hob is set into an impressive island unit with curved ends. An overhang at the rear allowed three stools to neatly tuck under the surface. The island was also home to a wine chiller and pop-up power socket. A ceiling mounted extractor hood was chosen to maintain the open feel due to its discreet, flush finish. The sink was positioned under the window and in the centre of a long expanse of units, softened at each end by more curves. In order to reduce its impact, an American fridge freezer was hidden around the corner in a newly created alcove. LED lighting was installed in the ceiling and complemented by additional lights in the plinths. A warm contrast to the gloss white units was added with the installation of a beautiful wooden effect Karndean floor.
