A fireplace and chimney breast are natural focal points in a lounge. However the deep alcoves created by these central features shouldn't be forgotten and can actually enhance it. We were asked to design some bespoke bookcase units that would sit comfortably in their surroundings. Mindful of the rooms period features, we suggested a classic in-frame painted shaker in a neutral chalk finish. Base cabinets provided useful storage for games, films and music and were topped with timber worktops. The large bookcase units were carefully planned to provide a home for the clients book collection whilst maintaining the view of the beautiful ceiling cornice. To meet the flexibility required from a modern family room, a large screen TV, sound bar and games console were also accomodated.
