Fresco Beige - November 2012
The existing builders kitchen was a simple 'U' shape with a small island that failed to inspire. Therefore our brief was to create the 'wow factor' that the kitchen and house deserved. A new island unit had to provide practical storage, preparation space and a breakfast bar to encourage socialising. We wanted to make this the focal point of the room, so we designed a unique timber breakfast bar providing seating for three. An 'L' shape run of units wrapped around the island to create short walking distances between different zones. The existing appliances were updated to a sleek five zone induction hob and side-by-side ovens. A wine cooler and built-under fridge were hidden in the island unit. The adjoining dining room was incorporated into the kitchen by widening an archway and continuing the flooring through to create an open-plan feel.
Breakfast bars don't have to be square or round. Modern manufacturing techniques enable almost any shape to be created, like our 'Comma' design shown here.
