Designer's Tips

Usually services can easily be moved, so the kitchen design does not need to be restricted by existing water, gas or electricity supplies.

Quartz is a fantastic option when replacing tiled window sills. It provides excellent protection from water, is easy to clean and looks stunning, especially with matching upstands.

Design Brief

Despite being a narrow room with two large windows, we were able to completely redesign this kitchen layout. Originally the sink was positioned under the side window, which looked out onto the driveway and a neighbouring property. We moved the supplies and wastes, enabling the sink to be centralised on the other window. This provided the customer with a pleasing aspect out on to the garden and opened up valuable worktop space next to the hob. The existing built under oven, fridge and freezer were replaced with built-in appliances fitted in to tall housings. In their place storage cupboards were installed under the worktops. These, combined with a tall pull-out larder, significantly increased the usable storage capacity. The light Alabaster cabinetry was contrasted by black glitterstone quartz worktops and a dark Karndean floor. Matching quartz upstands and window sills provided protection to the plasterwork and a beautiful finish.
