Designer's Tips
Make a kitchen a more sociable space with an informal dining area. In this kitchen a small, curved breakfast bar extends into the kitchen and also doubles up as extra preparation space. Â Add a really modern feel with contrasting cabinetry, the blocks of ebony make two focal points in the design, with the ebony plinths neatly wrapping around the base of the white units.

Design Brief
Â
The original kitchen had served its time and was in need of updating and remodelling. An ultra modern, sleek kitchen was the main requirement for the customer and so the combination of handle-less gloss white and ebony doors certainly achieved this goal. Being a keen cook, the existing built under single oven and four burner gas hob were inadequate for the customers needs. They were replaced with a combination microwave and steam oven, both built into an accessable tall housing. A new five burner gas hob was installed and, along with the ovens, was fitted on the opposite side of the kitchen to leave a long run of worksurface suitable for preparation. A small curved breakfast bar extended into the kitchen, further increasing the worktop area.
