Designer's Tips

The old saying 'if it isn't broke, don't fix it' applied perfectly to this kitchen. It is nice to have a change, but if certain features work in your current kitchen then make sure you reintroduce them into your new layout.

The use of upstands instead of wall tiles in a kitchen can be very effective. They provide clean lines and provide you with the option to freshen the kitchen in the future by repainting the wall which remains above.

Design Brief

This kitchen was installed using the footprint of the original units, as the layout worked very well. Despite this many small changes were made to completely transform the room. The lack of natural light and dark oak doors of the previous kitchen made the room feel very small, so the introduction of Alabaster kitchen units created a light, bright feel. A low, awkward range cooker was removed and replaced with an easily accessable built-in oven and seperate gas hob. Glass dresser units and cupboards filled the wall opposite the hob but looked bulky. These were removed completely to leave the customer with a long unbroken preparation area. This led into a penninsular which housed the sink, which was perfectly positioned to enjoy the views of the garden. The cooker hood was one of many decorative features introduced to give the kitchen a classic look. Others included tongue and groove panelling, a wine rack and a plate rack.
