Design Brief

A 1980's builders kitchen provided poor storage, little worksurface and very dated ideas. Therefore the kitchen needed to be modernised to reflect twenty first century living. As part of the overall project a new conservatory was to be added onto the existing kitchen. The old kitchen units were removed and an opening created, to provide open plan living. Then the new kitchen was reconfigured along the three remaining walls to create a large 'U' shaped formation. A new built-in single oven and a combination microwave were installed into a tall housing to allow easier access. These were combined with an induction hob and matching extractor hood to provide a flexible cooking area. An integrated fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer were chosen to create an unbroken run of grey doors. To continue this theme a new wall boiler was hidden inside a specially made unit which sat on the worktop. In total eight metres of worksurface were installed, vastly improving on the two metres previously available. The floor was covered with a high-quaity click flooring which concealed underfloor heating, removing the need for radiators.
